the meaning of Economic Development Week
Economic Development Week (EDW) is an annual celebration aimed at emphasizing the significance and influence of economic development initiatives across communities globally.
Established by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) in 2016, this week acknowledges the valuable contributions of Economic Development Organizations (EDOs) and professionals in their respective communities. Each year, IEDC commemorates Economic Development Week by showcasing programs, best practices, and outstanding individuals who make a positive difference in their communities. In just a few short years, this event has evolved into one of the most recognized awareness weeks of its kind, shedding light on the often-overlooked efforts of the economic development profession.
During this week, the Laredo Economic Development Corporation has various activities such as proclamation day, 3 forums: State of Transportation & Infrastructure, State of Economic Development, and a Small Business Forum, Spring Membership & Networking Mixer and a Business Expo & Job Fair. These initiatives aim to engage stakeholders and the public, highlighting the importance of collaboration and innovation.
The primary objective is to raise awareness about the vital role economic development plays in enhancing quality of life, fostering sustainable growth, and strengthening the overall economic resilience of the Los Dos Laredo region.
